A major crash has caused a total shutdown of the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 281 Northbound on Saturday, August 15.

Drivers can expect delays of up to an hour as officials work to clear the area, according to traffic site SigAlert. TxDOT asked drivers on its site to find an alternate route for the time being. 

Drivers were being diverted off the highway before Bitters Road by officials. Traffic was pushed back as far south as U.S. 281 and Nakoma. 

Images on TxDOT cameras showed a dark truck taking up several lanes on the highway. The crash was reported at 3:22 p.m. on SigAlert, and alll lanes of 281 North are closed as of 5:20 p.m.
