Trophy Club Byron Nelson’s historic 79-match volleyball win streak has come to an end.
The Bobcats were defeated in the Grapevine Fieldhouse Volleyfest Tournament in a three-set match against nationally ranked Allen. Byron Nelson lost in two sets (25-21, 25-19).
Since its last loss against Highland Park on Aug. 16, 2024, Byron Nelson has claimed back-to-back state and national championships in one of Texas volleyball’s greatest runs. In 2019, head coach Brianne Groth led the Bobcats to their first title in Class 6A, before the division split.
In 2024, Byron Nelson won the Class 6A Division II title, and, in 2025, won the Class 6A Division I title.
Although they won’t finish undefeated, the Bobcats can achieve a coveted three-peat this season.
