All eastbound lanes of Interstate 30 in parts of Tarrant County will be closed this weekend for continuous road work.
Starting Friday Aug. 14 at 7 p.m., the interstate will be closed from Interstate 20 to West Loop 820 for a traffic switch onto new permanent pavement, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. The exit and entrance ramps in the 5.7 mile stretch will also be closed.
The interstate will reopen Monday, Aug. 17 at 6 a.m.
Dates are subject to change if any major weather conditions prevent construction.
Drivers will be directed to detours using signage placed along the highway. Detours on I-20, West Loop 820 and I-30 frontage roads will be accessible during construction. TxDOT recommends using alternate routes when possible.
“Motorists are urged to remain alert for changing traffic patterns as construction progresses,” said a TxDOT news release.
The closure is part of the third project in Keep 20-30 Moving, which is intended to improve traffic flow on the two interstates.This is part of the bigger Texas Clear Lanes initiative to address highly congested roadways across the state. Work began in November 2024 and is expected to finish by 2030.
The three infrastructure investment projects total $541 million.
