A Texas Department of Public Transportation trooper shot and killed a person in Brownsboro on Saturday while responding to a suicidal person assist call, DPS officials said.

The trooper responded to the 1100 block of Ingram Street at 3:30 p.m. to assist local law enforcement with a suicidal person, according to a news release from DPS.

The person was said to have been armed with a firearm and given commands by the trooper to drop the weapon. The person did not follow commands and was shot by the trooper when they allegedly raised the firearm at the trooper, according to the news release. 

The person was taken to a hospital where they died, according to the news release.

No one else was injured during the shooting. DPS has not released additional information regarding the shooting or the person’s identity. 

Brownsboro, in Henderson County, is about 90 miles east of Dallas.
