FORT WORTH, Texas — It was a markedly different scene at Thursday’s Tarrant County Commissioners Court meeting, where proceedings remained largely calm and orderly following last week’s chaotic meeting that resulted in two arrests.
More than 15 people addressed commissioners during public comment. While last week’s disruption was mentioned briefly, the heated incidents surrounding a proposal to reduce voting locations did not become a focus of Thursday’s meeting.

With the meeting proceeding without the confrontations seen previously, commissioners turned their attention to county business, including the county budget and, later, the proposed 2027 budget for JPS Health Network.
Much of the discussion toward the end of the meeting centered on the JPS budget.
JPS representatives presented their proposed spending plan to commissioners, identifying workforce needs as one of the organization’s primary challenges.
The JPS team also presented financial projections showing the health network is expected to perform approximately $18 million better than the budget that had originally been planned for.
During the presentation, JPS representatives highlighted the demands placed on the health system, describing its emergency department as one of the busiest in the nation.
Commissioners ultimately approved the JPS budget for fiscal year 2027.
