MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The former Houston’s Restaurant in East Memphis was sold to a new owner.
Houston’s Restaurant at 5000 Poplar Avenue in East Memphis closed suddenly and permanently in December of 2024 and has been vacant since.
Owners in part cited crime in Memphis as their reason for leaving, stating “the operating environment in the vicinity has become increasingly difficult over the years, both with respect to staffing and public safety.”
The property was sold on October 31 for $2.1 million to an entity known as 5000 Poplar, LLC.
It’s unclear what the new owner plans to do with the property. Action News 5 will keep you updated once those plans are revealed.
