Dallas police responded to an early morning shooting call on Sunday, Aug. 16.

At approximately 3:50 a.m., officers responded to a shooting call in the 3100 block of South Westmoreland Road, according to DPD Beat. From the preliminary investigation, it was determined that an off-duty Arlington officer was shot by 33-year-old Darriyous Johunkin.

Johunkin was arrested on scene and transported to Lew Sterrett Jail, according to police. He is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The facts and circumstances surrounding the incident are currently being investigated, according to police.
