A healthy community starts with healthy families, and that’s exactly what the City of San Antonio Metro Health is working to build. Corderro tells us more about their Let’s Grow Together campaign and how it’s connecting expecting families with valuable resources.

Corderro spoke with Jennifer Lopez about how food security affects the health of our community. Having reliable access to healthy foods, fruits, and vegetables is essential to preventing chronic health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and other medical concerns. Programs that make nutritious foods more affordable can have a lasting impact on families and their overall well-being.

One way residents can stretch their grocery budgets is through the Extra Food Bucks program. If you use your SNAP benefits at participating farmers markets throughout San Antonio, you can receive matching dollars for eligible purchases, helping families bring home more fresh fruits and vegetables while making every dollar go further.

Programs like these are part of Metro Health’s ongoing efforts to support healthy pregnancies, healthy children, and healthier communities across San Antonio.
