EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A jury is hearing evidence in the case against a man accused of killing his aunt and girlfriend during Christmas weekend about four years ago in El Paso.
Gabriel Ramirez, who was 33 at the time, is charged in connection with the deaths of his 79-year-old aunt, Irma Ramirez, and 24-year-old Kathia Rosales.
Police said that in 2022 officers responded to a home on Truman Avenue in central El Paso to investigate a murder after a woman identified as Irma Ramirez reported that she was being stabbed. Police said she was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

Later that day, detectives were called to investigate a death on Gregory, where medical crews found Rosales dead in a car. Investigators said Ramirez and Rosales were in a dating relationship.
Cameras were not allowed inside the courtroom, but opening statements were given.
Ramirez pleaded not guilty, and the jury was presented with evidence related to the aunt’s killing first.
Defense attorneys argued that Irma Ramirez never mentioned Ramirez’s name when she made the call to police.
Proceedings ended for the day and are expected to continue Tuesday morning.
