After more than a decade of family movie nights and memories, Fort Worth’s Coyote Drive-In is preparing for its final curtain call on Labor Day.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth moviegoers have a few more weeks to catch one last film under the stars before Coyote Drive-In closes for good.

After 14 years of movies and outdoor memories, Coyote Drive-In Fort Worth announced it will permanently close on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7.

“We have been incredibly fortunate to be part of the Fort Worth community and the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area, and we are deeply grateful to the hundreds of thousands of guests who chose to spend their evenings with us over the years,” said Managing Partner Glenn Solomon.

The closure is tied to the next phase of the Trinity River Vision project, the organization said. Under Coyote Drive-In’s original lease agreement with the Tarrant Regional Water District, the lease would end once the district began construction on two new canals and a three-acre park on the property.

With that Panther Island milestone expected this fall, TRWD exercised its right to terminate the lease, the organization said.

“When we opened Coyote Drive-In, we hoped to create more than just a place to watch movies; we wanted to create a place where families and friends could come together and make lasting memories,” Solomon said.

Since opening, Coyote Drive-In has welcomed movie lovers of all ages, hosted community events and offered a blend of classic drive-in nostalgia and modern amenities.

In a press release, Solomon thanked the drive-in’s customers, employees, business partners and the Fort Worth community for their support over the years.

Solomon also recognized General Manager Chris Fortune, who has been with Coyote Drive-In since it opened. Solomon called Fortune “the heart and soul of Coyote Drive-In” and credited his dedication and leadership with helping make the drive-in a place families will remember.

The drive-in is encouraging guests to visit before its final night on Sept. 7 for one last movie under the North Texas sky.
