Houston police are on the scene after a deadly shooting in southwest Houston on Monday afternoon, officials said.

According to authorities, the shooting occurred near the intersection of Oakmoor Parkway and Airport Boulevard.

HOUSTON – A man is dead and another was injured following a shooting in southwest Houston on Monday afternoon, officials said.

What we know

According to authorities, the shooting occurred near the intersection of Oakmoor Parkway and Airport Boulevard. 

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a young adult male dead on the scene from an apparent gunshot wound. 

As officers began checking the area, they found another apartment with several people were inside along with one man who had a graze wound. 

According to a preliminary investigation, two middle school girls got off a school bus and officials said they had been having some kind of fight or argument. Officials said they apparently have been having the ongoing argument for several days. 

Officials said several other people joined into the argument or fight. 

Authorities said the man who died on the scene did have a rifle and there was another man. The two exchanged gunfire in the courtyard. 

Police believe the man with the graze wound is probably the shooter, so they believe they have everyone in custody. 

What we don’t know

Officials did not identify the victim or the suspect involved in the shooting.

It’s unclear if the two men involved knew the middle school girls.
