SAN ANTONIO – An 18-year-old is dead and another is recovering after three gunmen opened fire outside a Northwest Side apartment complex early Tuesday morning.
The shooting happened just after midnight at the Woodhill Apartments off Woodstone Drive near Interstate 10.
Both victims were 18 years old and were outside the apartment complex when police say three people got out of a Toyota 4Runner and opened fire.
One of the teens was shot in the torso, while the other was struck in the lower body. Both were taken to a hospital.
The teen shot in the torso later died from his injuries. The other victim was initially reported to be in stable condition.
Police said all three gunmen took off in the 4Runner after the shooting. Investigators later found the SUV abandoned and discovered it had been stolen.
Investigators at the scene also found shell casings from both a handgun and a long rifle in front of Building 18 at the apartment complex.
Police have not released descriptions of the three suspects or said what may have led to the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing.
