SINTON – Twenty-four volleyball teams will compete in the Sinton Varsity Classic from Thursday, Aug. 20, through Saturday, Aug. 22.

The tournament will feature six four-team pools played Thursday and Friday. Teams will be divided into Gold, Silver and Bronze brackets based on their pool finishes, with all three bracket championships scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday.

Matches will be played in the Sinton High School main gym and on two auxiliary gym courts.

Sinton opens against Robstown

The host Lady Pirates will compete Thursday in Pool 1 with Robstown, Corpus Christi Miller and Austin Akins. All six pool matches will be played in the main gym.

Sinton will open against Robstown at 9 a.m. Miller will face Akins at 10 a.m., followed by Sinton against Akins at 11.

Robstown will play Miller at noon. Sinton will complete pool play against Miller at 1 p.m., and Robstown will face Akins in the final Pool 1 match at 2.

CC Calallen leads Pool 2 field

Pool 2 will include Corpus Christi Calallen, Corpus Christi Incarnate Word Academy, Aransas Pass and Corpus Christi King. Matches will be played Thursday on Auxiliary Gym Court 1.

Calallen will face IWA at 9 a.m., followed by Aransas Pass against King at 10.

King will play Calallen at 11 a.m., and IWA will meet Aransas Pass at noon. Calallen will face Aransas Pass at 1 p.m., followed by IWA against King at 2.

Rockport-Fulton, Alice placed in Pool 3

Rockport-Fulton, Kingsville Santa Gertrudis Academy, Alice and Austin Anderson will compete in Pool 3 on Auxiliary Gym Court 2.

Rockport-Fulton will open against SGA at 9 a.m. Alice will face Anderson at 10 a.m., followed by Anderson against Rockport-Fulton at 11.

SGA will play Alice at noon. Rockport-Fulton will meet Alice at 1 p.m., and SGA will close Thursday’s schedule against Anderson at 2.

Friday pools begin at 9 a.m.

The tournament’s remaining three pools will compete Friday using the same rotation and match times as Thursday.

Pool 4 will feature Corpus Christi Moody, Falfurrias, Zapata and Laredo Nixon in the main gym.

Moody will play Falfurrias at 9 a.m., followed by Zapata against Nixon at 10. Nixon will meet Moody at 11, and Falfurrias will play Zapata at noon.

Moody will face Zapata at 1 p.m., and Falfurrias will close pool play against Nixon at 2.

Ingleside competes in Pool 5

Ingleside, Victoria St. Joseph, Laredo Cigarroa and McAllen will compete in Pool 5 on Auxiliary Gym Court 1.

Ingleside will open against St. Joseph at 9 a.m. Cigarroa will play McAllen at 10, followed by McAllen against Ingleside at 11.

St. Joseph will face Cigarroa at noon. Ingleside will play Cigarroa at 1 p.m., and St. Joe will meet McAllen at 2.

Woodsboro joins Pool 6

Pool 6 will include Roma, Woodsboro, Laredo Martin and Sharyland. Matches will be played Friday on Auxiliary Gym Court 2.

Roma will face Woodsboro at 9 a.m., followed by Martin against Sharyland at 10. Sharyland will play Roma at 11, and Woodsboro will face Martin at noon.

Roma will meet Martin at 1 p.m., followed by Woodsboro against Sharyland at 2.

Three brackets set for Saturday

The six pool champions will advance to the Gold Bracket along with the two second-place teams that allowed the fewest points during pool play. Gold Bracket matches will be played in the main gym.

The Silver Bracket will include the remaining second-place teams and the third-place teams that allowed the fewest points. Those matches will be played on Auxiliary Gym Court 1.

The six fourth-place pool finishers and the two third-place teams that allowed the most points will compete in the Bronze Bracket on Auxiliary Gym Court 2.

Each bracket will begin with quarterfinal matches at 8, 9, 10 and 11 a.m. Saturday.

Championship semifinals are scheduled for noon and 2 p.m., while consolation semifinals will be played at 1 and 3. The consolation finals will begin at 4 p.m., followed by third-place matches at 5 and championship matches at 6.
