LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – (News release from Lubbock Meals on Wheels)
During September, Comfort Keepers and Lubbock Meals on Wheels join efforts to collect food and funds for the Weekend Meal Bag Program for Meals on Wheels recipients. Meals on Wheels delivers 1,100+ meals each day, and 900 of those receive breakfast meals also. On weekends, 675 of those 1100+ receive a weekend meal bag to sustain them over the weekend, as they have no one else to help them with food.
Items we are collecting for weekend meal bags are:
SoupSmall Cans of Tuna/ChickenIndividual cans of Beanie WeeniesInstant OatmealPeanut Butter/Cheese CrackersIndividual Chef Boyardee MealsVienna SausagesIndividual Packets of Peanuts
All items need to be unexpired and in individual serving sizes.
We need businesses, Church groups, scouts, and civic organizations to all collect items during September. You can also create contests to see who collects the most.
