A Corpus Christi man convicted on multiple federal drug and weapons charges will spend 15 years in prison following an investigation that began with a traffic stop in 2025, according to Corpus Christi police.
Police said Hector Deleon was also sentenced to five years of supervised release after his prison term.
The investigation began on March 15, 2025, when the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Gang Unit spotted a wanted person driving a vehicle. When officers approached, they said they saw drug paraphernalia and a handgun near the driver.
Deleon was a passenger in the vehicle and also had an active Corpus Christi Municipal Court warrant, according to police.
During a search of the vehicle, officers said they found methamphetamine, black tar heroin, heroin, crack cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, THC, marijuana, Xanax and another firearm.
Police said the driver initially took responsibility for everything found inside the vehicle. However, DEA agents and task force officers continued investigating and later determined Deleon was more involved than initially believed.
A federal arrest warrant was issued for Deleon in July 2025. On July 30, 2025, the U.S. Marshals Service and CCPD Gang Unit arrested Deleon. Investigators then searched a residence and found additional drugs and firearms, according to police.
CCPD said the case was the result of a yearlong investigation involving its Gang Unit, DEA agents, task force officers and federal partners.
