A North Texas-raised meteorologist has a new role at NBC 5 (KXAS-TV).

Ryann Jones announced on Monday, Aug. 17, that she’s joining the NBC 5 Today team as the new traffic and weather anchor. Viewers can catch her reports at 5 a.m., 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. daily.

“New job title, same tv station, MUCH earlier alarm clock!” Jones wrote on Instagram in her announcement post.

Jones was born in Florida but was raised in Justin for most of her life, according to her NBC 5 author page.

She attended Justin Northwest High School and graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla. in 2024. During her collegiate studies, Jones actually interned for NBC 5 back during the summer of 2022.

Jones then worked at KYTX-TV in Tyler, Texas, followed by a stint at First Coast News in Jacksonville, Fla. In 2024, she joined NBC 5 as a meteorologist associate.
