EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Pasoans will have a chance to get an inside look into the El Paso Police Department through its Citizen Academy.
The Citizen Academy will be held from Sept. 8 through Oct. 6 in the evening on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There will also be three Saturdays where the academy will be held.
This community education program is in partnership with the Texas Department of
Public Safety and the El Paso Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association.
The CPA is a community policing program aimed at helping citizens learn about some
of the different functions within the El Paso Police Department and Texas DPS.
Among the topics that will be covered are: patrol, criminal investigations, use of
force, Texas Rangers, SWAT, bomb squad, CMT, civilian response to active
shooter events (CRASE), and other topics.
To apply, you must be at least 18 years of age and no longer in high school. There is
no age limit as this is a community education program.
The application is available online at eppd.org under the “Get Involved” tab. The
application may be completed and submitted completely online. Applications must be
turned in no later than Friday, Sept. 4.
