Tiny Grocer has operated as an organic food market and outpost for locally crafted products along South Congress Avenue since 2021. The business later expanded its Austin portfolio, opening a second market in the Hyde Park neighborhood earlier this year.
Now, Tiny Grocer is preparing for its final days of business along South Congress Avenue as the market prepares for its flagship’s next chapter — one slated for the eastside. Owner Steph Steele confirmed in a mid-July social media post Tiny Grocer’s South Congress flagship would be closing, with its last day in business scheduled for Sunday, August 23.
However, its Austin footprint isn’t shrinking, as the business is opening its new (and larger) market at 2411 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Austin, TX 78702 this fall. Located at the former Longhorn Meat Market building, Tiny Grocer’s MLK storefront will include an in-house butcher shop, an upgraded deli area alongside its grocery selections, coffee and cocktails.
“Thank YOU for supporting local and helping us grow Tiny Grocer into something, well… not so Tiny anymore,” the business captioned its July 16 social media announcement. “We cannot wait to see your faces at our MLK location this fall.”
Those looking to make one last grocery run to the South Congress store will be met with some specialty deals, as Tiny Grocer offers 25% off all retail and grocery products this week at the South Austin shop.
