CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — For local nonprofit Esperanza de Tejas, the recipe for a hopeful community boil down to three key ingredients: love, action and care for our youth.
The organization is also preparing for a youth summit scheduled for Oct.17. The Lead con Esperanza Youth Summit will give students opportunities to learn about financial literacy, explore careers and shop for professional clothing at no cost. The goal is to help students prepare for their futures while exposing them to career paths they may not have previously considered.
But in order to make the summit a success, they need a village of caring adults to help raise it up.
Esperanza De Tejas is looking for community members willing to serve as career mentors during the summit. Organizers are seeking professionals from a variety of fields, including cosmetology, entrepreneurship, media, law and trade skills. There is also a need for volunteers to help serve lunch during the summit, chaperones to help guide children as they shop for interview outfits and donors to contribute to attendee swag bags.
