Police investigate cause of high-speed accident on Potomac Drive

HOUSTON – A man is dead after a fiery late-night crash on a Houston street that residents say they could hear from a distance.
The crash happened around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday at Potomac Drive and Woodway. An SUV traveling northbound on Potomac Drive crossed the median and struck a tree at a high rate of speed. The impact caused the SUV to break apart and catch fire.
The man inside was the only occupant of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.
Houston Police Department is investigating the crash.
