Texas Authors Book Club
Travel back to turn-of-the-century Arlington with the Texas Authors Book Club on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Fielder Museum. This month’s selection, Home for Erring and Outcast Girls by Julie Kibler, is a historical novel inspired by the real-life Berachah Home for the Redemption and Protection of Erring Girls, which opened in Arlington in 1903.
Summer Music Series
Kick off your weekend with live music at the Summer Music Series on Friday, Aug. 21 from 6–8 p.m. at Home Plate at Texas Rangers Golf Club. This week’s featured artist, Baileigh Rhodes, will perform inside Home Plate while guests enjoy food and beverage specials throughout the evening.
There’s no cover charge, and walk-ins are welcome as space allows, but advance registration is encouraged. RSVP by calling (817) 575-8299.
Art After Dark
Get creative and explore the work of Piet Mondrian at Art After Dark on Friday, Aug. 21 from 6:30–8 p.m. at Southeast Branch Library. Learn about the influential artist and his iconic paintings before creating your own Mondrian-inspired artwork using paper. This creative program is for adults ages 18 and up, with supplies available while they last.
10 Hiking Essentials + Survival
Prepare your family for the great outdoors at 10 Hiking Essentials + Survival on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 1 p.m. at River Legacy Nature Center. Mountain Sports and River Legacy Naturalist Scott Matula will share practical tips on hiking and camping safety, including the 10 Hiking Essentials, Leave No Trace principles, what to do if you get lost, and how to prepare for different outdoor adventures.
Families can also explore tents, backpacks, survival gear, and other equipment used for hiking and camping. RSVP is required, and the program is designed for families looking to feel more confident exploring nature together.
Tea Time! Malty Assam
Take your taste buds on a trip around the world at Tea Time! Malty Assam on Wednesday, Aug. 26 from 6:30–7:15 p.m. at East Library & Recreation Center. Learn about the history and flavors of Assam tea while enjoying a complimentary cup during this fun, educational program.
