Houston’s biggest barbecue event of the year is set to take over Discovery Green this October. Organized by the James Beard Award-winning Southern Smoke Foundation, Southern Smoke Festival will bring together nearly 100 celebrated chefs, beverage artists, and hospitality leaders to raise funds for food and beverage workers experiencing crisis nationwide.

Heavyweight Culinary Lineup

The 2026 roster features 88 chefs from across the country, alongside a strong showing of local Houston talent. Attendees will find familiar local names such as Aaron Bludorn (Bludorn), Leonard Botello IV (Truth BBQ), Rebecca Masson (Fluff Bake Bar), and Ryan Pera (Coltivare).

They will be joined by acclaimed national figures, including Tyson Cole (Uchi), Aaron Franklin (Franklin Barbecue), and Nina Compton (Compere Lapin).

In addition to food, the event will highlight leading craft cocktail and wine bars from both Houston and other major cities. Local favorites like Julep, EZ’s Liquor Lounge, and Reserve 101 will pour alongside visiting bars such as New York City’s Dear Irving and New Orleans’ Cure.

Live Demos and Festival Activations

Beyond the tastings, the festival grounds will host several immersive experiences. The YETI Culinary Stage will feature live cooking demonstrations from industry veterans, emceed by chef and YouTuber Brad Leone. Additionally, the 2026 class of Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs will cook together for the first time in a dedicated area, while local bookshop Kindred Stories will be on-site hosting cookbook signings.

A Festival for a Cause

The core mission of the Southern Smoke Festival is to fund the foundation’s ongoing relief efforts. To date, the organization has distributed more than $16.5 million in emergency relief to food and beverage workers facing financial hardships and has provided nearly 12,000 no-cost mental health counseling sessions since 2020.

How to get tickets to Southern Smoke Festival in Houston

Tickets are currently on sale, with options ranging from a $225 General Admission pass to a $550 VIP tier that grants early access and premium tastings. For those looking to directly underwrite a participating chef, Talent Supporter packages begin at $5,000.
