LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A firefighter is recovering after battling a house fire in central Lubbock Tuesday night.
Around 8 p.m., crews responded to reports of heavy smoke coming from home near 18th Street and Avenue V.
Upon arrival, crews entered the home and began fire suppression operations. Shortly after, fire conditions began to worsen and the Incident Commander ordered crews to evacuate the structure and transition to defensive operations.
LFR says one firefighter was taken to UMC to be treated for heat exhaustion.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Lubbock Fire Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office.
