Drivers should expect delays as overnight lane and shoulder closures begin Monday on the Harbor Bridge in Corpus Christi.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Drivers traveling southbound on the Harbor Bridge should prepare for delays as temporary lane closures begin Monday night.

Southbound US 181 will be reduced to one inside lane from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Wednesday, Aug. 17-19, according to the Harbor Bridge Project.

The closures will begin near Beach Avenue on North Beach and are needed for work to improve the roadway’s ride quality. Drivers should also watch for uneven pavement along the southbound US 181 mainlanes during the day Monday and Tuesday.

Traffic control devices will be in place around the closures. Drivers are urged to slow down, follow posted signs and allow extra time through the area.

All work is weather permitting.
