This weekend, shoppers exploring Galleria Dallas may stumble upon a mysterious portal to a world unlike their own. In celebration of the new film Wildwood, visitors will have the chance to get an exclusive first look at the enchanted forest beyond the portal.
Wildwood is Laika animation studios’ new stop-motion film that will premiere on October 23. The studio is known for its films Coraline, ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls, Kubo and the Two Stings and Missing Link.
The new movie is based off of the book by Colin Meloy, and follows a headstrong teenager named Prue McKeel who embarks on a rescue mission with her classmate to save her baby brother after he was abducted by a group of crows. In order to save her brother, she must venture through an enchanted forest and overcome a world of talking animals, bandits and powerful figures.
Dallas is one of the few cities across North America that will get this special first look at the movie ahead of the release date
Located on the first floor of Galleria Dallas near Lane Boots will be the free immersive pop-up experience called “The Forest is Calling.” The experience will take visitors through a forest portal and onto hand-painted interactive sets that will make them feel like they’re stepping into the animated film. The installation was co-designed by Wildwood Art Director Matt Maldonado and Portland-based agency KAMP Grizzly.
The experience will showcase hidden artifacts, symbols and Easter eggs from the film, and each participant will get to experience an interactive sequence and will leave with a digital photo and keepsake tied with their result.
