SAN ANTONIO — A young boy who had been in critical condition after nearly drowning at a Far North Side community pool has died.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the child as Malachi Israel LeBlanc. He died Aug. 9 from complications of a near-drowning. His death was ruled an accident.

The incident happened just before 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at a residential community pool near Turquoise Sky and Wilderness Oak.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, Malachi was found unresponsive in the water and pulled from the pool.

Deputies began lifesaving efforts until EMS arrived. The boy was then taken to a hospital in critical condition where he died four days later.
