Everyone has their favorite barbecue spot — even the members of K-pop’s biggest band, BTS. After eating in Texas over the weekend, one of the group’s rappers said he may have just found the best barbecue “in the world.” That’s quite a claim, so here’s where he went.
During the first of two sold-out shows at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, j-hope (whose given name is Jung Ho-seok) told fans he had eaten barbecue the day before the August 15 concert. “I had barbecue yesterday,” he said. “And I think I might have found the best barbecue spot in the world. But I’m not going to tell you where I got it because yeah, I’m gonna go back.”
Despite his gatekeeping on stage, j-hope posted photos of his food on social media afterward, and it looks like he grabbed some brisket, ribs, mac and cheese, coleslaw, green beans, and more. And we finally know which Dallas-area barbecue spot earned such high praise, as Hutchins BBQ came forward on Instagram to claim the title. According to the restaurant, he visited the McKinney location. “We’re glad you were able to taste the best of Texas BBQ!” they said alongside a photo of him and his order.
The 32-year-old rapper seems to make a point of eating Texas barbecue whenever he’s in the Lone Star State. While on a solo tour that stopped here in San Antonio last year, he visited Pinkerton’s Barbecue downtown. At the time, a spokesperson for the restaurant told MySA they didn’t get any photos with him, but “We all think it’s pretty cool that he came to Pinkerton’s.”
He wasn’t the only one to be out and about in the Dallas area over the weekend. Jin, one of the group’s singers, posted photos from a journey to Six Flags Over Texas, which isn’t too far from the concert venue. Fans also spotted him at the park but seemed to keep a respectful distance instead of swarming to ask for photos.
Meanwhile, rapper RM (Kim Namjoon) killed some time in a local art museum, as he’s known to do in cities where the group tours. Fort Worth’s famous Kimbell Art Museum posted photos of the visit, saying there was “A little Namjooning at the Kimbell Art Museum.” Continuing, the post said, “RM of @bts.bighitofficial spent time exploring the art and architecture across the museum this weekend. Thank you for stopping by, @rkive! To fans near and far, consider this your invitation to visit and discover your own favorite Kimbell views.”
