HOUSTON – A body was found in a remote area of Attucks Middle School in Sunnyside, school officials said.
The Houston Independent School District said maintenance crews discovered the person and called police before any students could see the scene. Sky 2 aerial footage showed emergency responders at the campus.
The district placed the school on “secure mode” for about 10 minutes while law enforcement responded, HISD said. Apart from that brief period, officials said campus operations were not impacted.
Houston Police Department is investigating the discovery and said there is no known threat to students or staff. Authorities have not released the identity of the person found.
