BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Jerry R. Strawser, an accounting professor and KPMG Chair in the James Benjamin Department of Accounting at Mays Business School, has been tapped to serve as interim provost and executive vice president starting Sept. 1.
The transition comes as Texas A&M University Provost Alan Sams steps down from his administrative post, effective Sept. 1, to return to a faculty role in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, University President Susan Ballabina announced Thursday.
The appointment is pending approval by the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents, which is scheduled to hold a special meeting on Thursday, Aug. 27, to consider the transition.
Strawser, who has previously served as the university’s interim provost, will lead academic operations while the national search for a permanent provost continues.
