A Crandall High School football player was airlifted to medical care following an injury at football practice, Crandall ISD said in a statement posted to social media on Wednesday.
“As part of the emergency response, a medical helicopter will land near the baseball fields to transport the student for further medical care,” the statement wrote. “We understand the presence of emergency vehicles and a medical helicopter may cause concern, so we wanted to keep our families informed about the activity on campus.
“Our thoughts are with the student and the student’s family. We ask our community to respect their privacy at this time.”
Crandall ISD sent the Star-Telegram the following statement:
“Crandall ISD can confirm that emergency medical personnel responded to Crandall High School this afternoon after a student-athlete was injured during football practice. A medical helicopter was called to campus to transport the student for further medical care.
“We are grateful to our staff and emergency responders for their immediate response. Our thoughts are with the student and the student’s family. Out of respect for the student’s privacy, the district will not release additional information regarding the student’s identity or medical condition.”
Over 50 members of the Crandall community voiced their support for the student in the statement’s comment section.
Crandall is set to open its season Friday, Aug. 28, against Denton Braswell.
