Out for delivery: Tech giant Amazon is amping up its Texas investments with a massive, multibillion-dollar robotics manufacturing facility coming down the pipeline in the Lone Star State.

Company officials announced on Wednesday, August 19 the upcoming facility slated for Austin, which is expected to create between 300 and 500 high-pying jobs in the manufacturing and engineering sectors, per the announcement. That facility’s core focus will be on manufacturing the robotics systems utilized at Amazon to aid its employees on both repetitive tasks and heavy lifting, company heads noted.

The robotics manufacturing facility is the latest investment from the powerhouse company, which has poured more than $100 billion into the Lone Star State since 2010 and has employed approximately 17,000 employees in Austin and roughly 86,000 statewide.

The future development will be situated at the recently annexed Dog’s Head property in southeast Austin, which comprises more than 2,600 acres of land previously housing a gravel mining site. Nestled between the Colorado River, U.S. Hwy. 183 and State Highway 130, the property is approximately 10 minutes away from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and about 15 minutes from downtown.

Endeavor Real Estate Group has been leading the charge for a master-planned redevelopment of the site to feature thousands of multifamily and single-family housing units, commercial retail, office and hospitality space as well as the industrial and manufacturing site.

“Austin’s talented workforce, world-class universities, and strong community partnerships make it the ideal home for this facility,” Holly Sullivan, Amazon’s vice president of worldwide economic development, said in the company’s announcement. “We’re proud to deepen our commitment to this city and the state of Texas.”
