Fort Worth will get another downtown steakhouse, this one known for celebrity diners.
Al Biernat’s will open at 913 Houston St. in downtown Fort Worth. Owner Brad Fuller confirmed to Culture Map Fort Worth that the lease is officially signed and to the Dallas Morning News that the timeline is to be determined with hopes for late next year.
The nearly 12,000-square-foot building is across the street from the Fort Worth Convention Center, which is undergoing a $700 million expansion. The saucer-shaped arena will be demolished to make way for a new glass layout. The whole project is expected to wrap up in late 2029.
Al Biernat opened his steakhouse in 1998 in the Oak Lawn neighborhood of Dallas. Al’s hospitality, which is what the restaurant is known for today, brought him to open a second location in north Dallas. Fort Worth will be the third.
Known as a friend to all, Biernat welcomed VIP guests like Will Ferrell, Michael Buble and Taylor Sheridan. In fact, before he opened his steakhouse, he served as a manager at The Palm in Dallas and hand-picked visiting celebrities to be painted as a caricature on the iconic wall.
Biernat died after battling Bulbar ALS in 2024. Fuller worked with Al since the beginning and continues to manage Al Biernat’s restaurants.
He told Culture Map that he and Jeannie, Biernat’s wife, had Fort Worth on their radar and the opportunity for the third restaurant opened up last summer.
Fort Worth diners will indulge in everything from dry-aged rib eye and porterhouse, Japanese wagyu or a tomahawk. Prime seafood like Maine lobster and East Coast oysters are offered along with scallops and red snapper. A unique offering is the vegan portion of the menu, with mushroom enchiladas or a Thai stir-fry bowl.
Al Biernat’s Fort Worth expansion follows news of a Dallas-famous bakery expanding into Tarrant County. Lubella’s in east Dallas, serving breads, pastries, brunch and lunch croissant sandwiches, will open in Arlington this fall.
