La Rue Doughnuts, the beloved Dallas shop known for buttery brioche doughnuts and French-inspired pastries, officially opened its new Frisco location Aug. 15.
The shop is located at 4747 4th Army Dr., bringing La Rue’s growing following to a new corner of North Texas.
From Carte Blanche To La Rue
La Rue Doughnuts began as an offshoot of Amy and Casey La Rue’s award-winning restaurant Carte Blanche. The concept originally operated as a daytime bakery, serving pastries, croissants and doughnuts, before the owners eventually shifted their focus to La Rue as its own standalone business.
The first standalone La Rue location opened at Trinity Groves in West Dallas in 2024. Since then, the shop has developed a following for its chef-driven take on the classic doughnut. Now, that following is making its way north.
“The support for our new Frisco location has truly been overwhelming,” La Rue said in an Instagram post. “Opening something new is always a little scary, and we’re incredibly thankful for everyone who has come through our doors and shown us so much love.”
What Makes A La Rue Doughnut Different?
The shop’s signature brioche doughnuts are made with real butter, fresh eggs and local milk. The dough is slowly fermented before being fried in beef tallow throughout the day, creating a rich, tender pastry with a buttery texture.
The menu includes straightforward doughnuts alongside filled varieties and seasonal creations. Flavors rotate, but past offerings have included candied lemon, brown sugar bacon and pecan, vanilla and French toast.
And while the doughnuts are the obvious draw, La Rue isn’t strictly a sweets stop. The menu also includes savory items that pair well with coffee and make the shop an option for a quick breakfast.
For Frisco residents who have been making the drive to Dallas for La Rue, the new location should make that craving considerably easier to satisfy.
