LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – When it’s as hot as this, it’s usually nice to be able to say hey, we’re at least close to breaking records! Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, Lubbock’s record high for today is 107°.
SATURDAY
Hot and sunny. High temperatures will vary for the area, ranging from around 100° for our western counties to nearly 110° for the eastern area off the Caprock. I have 103° for Lubbock.
A scorching hot day is on the way as some spots could close in on the 110° mark(Dylan Smith)
We also have a handful of storms possible later this afternoon/evening as a marginal (1/5) has been issued for our eastern counties.
A slight chance for a handful of showers and storms popping later today(Dylan Smith)
TONIGHT
Quiet and mild. Low temperatures overnight drop into the 70s once again. Rain chances dry up once the sun sets this evening with generally clear skies for most.
SUNDAY
A rinse and repeat forecast but with slightly hotter afternoon temperatures. High temps will once again vary from the 100° to 110° range for the afternoon. I have 104° for Lubbock.
High pressure will ease slightly by the middle of next week as temperatures drop a little(Dylan Smith)
EXTENDED WEATHER PATTERN
For at least the first half of this forecast we’re eyeing the majority of the South Plains hitting the low to mid 100s.
A few shots of rain today will give way to a slight chance of rain by the middle of next week(Dylan Smith)
Later next week we could pick up some shots of rain and maybe more upper 90s and lower 100s for a period of time.
