Tesla has begun sending invitations for its upcoming Cybercab launch event, finally revealing the date. The event will take place in Austin, Texas, on September 3, 2026 (Tesla list of events). Tesla had already confirmed Austin as the location but kept the date under wraps while running a sweepstakes that gives Robotaxi riders and other eligible entrants a chance to attend (including how to enter without taking a Robotaxi).
Cybercab Event
Tesla sent invitations with additional details about the Cybercab Launch Event. Tesla describes the event as a chance to “experience the future of autonomy,” likely meaning that there will be Cybercab rides.
Attendees can bring one additional approved guest, but Tesla says the guest cannot be a content creator. Food and refreshments will be available. While the sweepstakes said you had to be 18 or older to enter, Tesla now says attendees must be at least 21 to enter the event and that IDs will be checked at the event.
Invitees have until August 30 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time to RSVP. Tesla says it will provide additional instructions by email after registration is confirmed.
The invitation confirms September 3 as the event date for the first time. When Tesla initially announced the event through its Robotaxi account, it said only that riders completing trips through August 23 could earn chances to attend, with sweepstakes winners selected August 25.

More Robotaxi Vehicle Types
The Cybercab won’t be the only robotaxi vehicle in Tesla’s future. Following meetings with Tesla’s Investor Relations team, JPMorgan said Tesla reiterated that Cybercab is only the first purpose-built Robotaxi form factor. Additional vehicle types are planned, with Tesla using the Robovan as an example.
Tesla has also said it is intentionally limiting additions of Model Y vehicles to its Robotaxi fleet as it prepares to scale Cybercab. FSD V15 is already being tested in the robotaxi fleet, with there apparently being seven areas of improvement.
The September 3 event should provide more details on the Cybercab, and hopefully we’ll hear more about its more powerful FSD hardware.
