A TCU football staffer contacted TCU campus police about the altercation in the locker room that led to the dismissal of Jacob Fields, according to a police report.
The Star-Telegram obtained a mostly redacted copy of the police report involving the altercation with Fields and a teammate on Aug. 13. Fields’ name was redacted in the report, but the Star-Telegram confirmed on Tuesday that it was Fields who allegedly struck a teammate.
According to the report, on Aug. 14, Officer Kevin Fitchett was dispatched to the John Justin Athletic Center to meet with the reporting party.
According to the report, “The RP wanted to relay information regarding an altercation that occurred in the men’s locker room (on) yesterday’s date, Aug. 13, 2026, at approximately 13:30hrs.”
Before being heavily redacted, the report states that the reporting party’s title is general manager for TCU football. Ryan Dorchester is listed as TCU’s general manager on the athletics website. Dorchester’s statement to the police was redacted in the report.
The report continues, “Officer advised RP to have V1 (the victim) make contact with TCU PD in order for a more comprehensive investigation and possible filing of any charges if V1 chose to do so.”
While most of the information about the victim was redacted, the report confirmed that a Black male was the victim.
TCU announced the dismissal of Fields on Aug. 18, five days after the altercation. Fields was in line to be a starter at free safety and replace former All-Big 12 safety and second round NFL draft pick Bud Clark in the secondary.
Sonny Dykes and TCU declined to comment further on the matter after Fields’ dismissal.
The Horned Frogs open the season against North Carolina in Dublin, Ireland, on Aug. 29.
