Major highway closures underway this weekend at LP 1604, I-10 on north west side

The closures are scheduled to remain in place until 5 a.m. Monday as part of bridge demolition work for the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project.

SAN ANTONIO — Drivers in northwest San Antonio should expect major traffic disruptions this weekend as crews close portions of Loop 1604 and Interstate 10 for bridge demolition work.

The main lanes of Loop 1604 are closed in both directions at the I-10 interchange. I-10 is also closed in both directions, including the frontage roads.

The flyover ramps at the interchange will remain open, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

The closures are scheduled to remain in place until 5 a.m. Monday as part of bridge demolition work for the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project.

TxDOT is also warning drivers about another closure on Loop 1604 at Blanco Road, which will take place over the weekend.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and use alternate routes while the closures are in place.
