Two Arlington restaurants were closed for serious violations, and three others failed the Aug. 9-15 health inspections, according to data from the city compiled by the Star-Telegram.
Arlington restaurants are scored on a 100-point system, with 100 being a perfect score. Restaurants and other places that serve food that score 75 or less require a follow-up inspection, and a score of 70 is considered extremely poor.
Chapps Burgers at 153 Southwest Plaza scored 85 on Aug. 12. The establishment was required to close because of an active roach infestation, according to a city of Arlington spokesperson. Chapps reopened Aug. 14 after a follow-up inspection.
Applebee’s at 4654 S. Cooper St. was closed Aug. 13 after the inspector found backed-up drains and unsanitary conditions, the city spokesperson said. The restaurant was allowed to reopen after an Aug. 17 follow-up inspection.
Annampuram Authentic South Indian Restaurant at 1201 S. Cooper St. received a failing score of 57 on Aug. 13. The inspector noted improper date marking and food storage, as well as a lack of hot water and deficiencies in employee hygiene, according to the spokesperson. A follow-up inspection is scheduled.
Ahi Poke Bowl at 3701 S. Cooper St. failed with a score of 61 on Aug. 13. Food wasn’t being stored safely, and employees weren’t following proper handwashing procedures, the spokesperson said. Parts of the building also needed cleaning and repair. A follow-up inspection has been scheduled.
Thuy Nguyen Cafe at 100 W. Pioneer Parkway received a failing score of 67 on Aug. 12. There was residue built up on some of the equipment and food wasn’t being stored at a safe temperature, according to the spokesperson. The facility was also in need of repair. A follow-up inspection will take place soon.
Williams Chicken at 3755 S. Cooper St. received a low score of 71 on Aug. 12 but passed the inspection. The inspector noted improper thawing methods, hand hygiene issues and dirty equipment, the spokesperson said. A follow-up inspection has been scheduled.
No food establishment received a perfect score of 100 on this round of inspections.
