CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Today’s “SNAP to It” Health Fair connected families with free resources, including help applying for SNAP benefits.

Several local organizations were on hand, all connecting families with services they may need.

That included Driscoll Children’s Hospital, Coastal Compass and the American Red Cross.

Walgreens also offered free immunizations and other health screenings.

The goal was to make sure people across the Coastal Bend know what help is available and how to find it.

Micaela Stewart, multimedia communications coordinator for the Coastal Bend Food Bank, told 3NEWS that the event is a great way to educate attendees on the kinds of help available to them.

“A lot of people don’t know what resources are in the community,” Stewart said. “We wanted to have this event for people, whether they are having a hard time with food, housing or transportation. We wanted to have this here to assist them.”

And if you couldn’t make it out today, help is still available.

The Coastal Bend Food Bank offers support both in person at their location on 5442 Bear Ln and online.
