DALLAS – Three people were injured following an overnight shooting in the Deep Ellum neighborhood early Sunday, Dallas police said.

What we know:
Officers responded around 1 a.m. to the scene on Elm Street, where they saw a vehicle driving away at a high rate of speed.
Shortly after, a passenger inside the fleeing vehicle called 911 to report that he had accidentally fired a gun inside the car and panicked, according to authorities.
Police later recovered the firearm and took the individual into custody for questioning.
The identities of those involved have not been released, and the condition of the three injured victims was not immediately available.
The investigation remains ongoing.
