No. 11 SMU pulled off the 3-0 sweep over in-state foe No. 8 Texas A&M at Day 3 in the AVCA First Serve. The Mustangs’ first win of the 2026 season came behind a massive defensive performance to knock off the top-10 Aggies.
SMU took the first set 27-25 after a late rally by the Aggies sent the game to extra points. Then the Mustangs had a rally of their own in Set 2, coming back from a four-point deficit early on to clinch a 25-19 win thanks to six blocks that held A&M to -.031 hitting.
The sweep was sealed in the third, as freshmen setter Hannah Beauford orchestrated her offense to a .364 clip that bolstered the Mustangs to a 25-20 win.

Suli Davis put on a show in her first match as a Mustang, accruing 15 kills to lead all players while Favor Anyanwu had a day of her own, tallying seven kills on a .500 clip with seven blocks. That Mustang defense was the difference maker, recording 13 blocks on the day held the Aggies to just .125 on hitting.
This marks the first time the reigning national champions in Texas A&M have been swept since SMU accomplished the feat on Sept. 9, 2025.
