Do you have opinions on street safety in San Antonio? The city’s Transportation Department wants to hear from you in an upcoming survey.
Details about the survey, such as when it will be conducted, have yet to be released; however, the department is actively posting calls for sign-ups on their social media pages.
“You don’t need to be an expert. We just want your honest opinion,” the department said in an Instagram post.
FlashVote, a government software tool that tracks residents’ feedback on community issues, is the platform the department is using to conduct the survey.

The department conducted a similar survey in October 2025. In it, they found that respondents were highly perceptive about issues in their communities, specifically noting that “busy areas felt safer,” and suggesting neighborhood streets were not as safe.
“They understand that street design, lighting, and activity influence how safe a place feels,” the department said in a blog post discussing the survey.
On one survey question, about 75% of respondents sought to prioritize fixing cracks and potholes across area roadways. Residents also identified distracted driving, such as from phone use, as a greater concern than driving while intoxicated.
Across the two-day survey in October, more than 200 responses were gathered.
Both surveys come as San Antonio seeks to encourage alternative forms of transportation. Waymo autonomous vehicles proliferate around much of the urban core, and new rapid transit lines from VIA Metropolitan Transit have begun construction.
Last month, the department celebrated the opening of new protected bike lanes near San Antonio’s Pearl.
