Boise State’s unbeaten start to the season ended Sunday night with a 2-0 loss to Texas Tech, snapping a program-record 17-match unbeaten streak.
The Broncos (2-1-1) had not lost since a 1-0 defeat to UTEP on Sept. 7, 2025. The 17-match run, the longest in program history, dated back to Sept. 11, 2025.
The Red Raiders took the lead in the 17th minute when Taylor Zdrojewski converted Reese Liner’s free kick, finding the bottom-left corner for a 1-0 advantage. Texas Tech carried that lead into halftime as both teams recorded two shots on goal, while the Red Raiders held a 7-3 edge in total shots.
Ava De Leest made two more saves early in the second half, but Zdrojewski scored again in the 62nd minute to make it 2-0.
Texas Tech finished with a 15-7 advantage in shots. De Leest recorded a season high four saves.
“Well, tonight’s a lovely blend of pride and disappointment,” head coach Jim Thomas said. “We were challenged tonight unlike we’ve been challenged in what feels like years, in front of a great crowd and against a department dripping with competitive class. So, to see the game ebb and flow and ultimately be decided by only a few moments is disappointing, but that disappointment is vastly overshadowed by the pride I have for our players and staff and the tremendous game they played tonight.”
The loss also ended Boise State’s unbeaten run on the road at 11 matches, the second-longest such streak in program history.
Boise State will return home to host Idaho State on Sunday, August 30, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. MT.
