Police said several men and women had been involved in a fight before the stabbing.
Hours later, officers were called to Spohn Shoreline after a man arrived with a gunshot wound to his hand. Investigators said the people and the black Chevrolet Silverado at the hospital matched descriptions connected to the motel fight.
Ybarra’s girlfriend later told investigators that one of Ybarra’s friends had picked up her, Ybarra, and another man in his black truck. She said the friend was looking for his girlfriend, who was at the OYO Motel.
When they arrived, the friend’s girlfriend was arguing with the woman who was later stabbed. Ybarra’s girlfriend said the fight became physical, that the victim waved a knife at them, and cut her on the leg with a knife.
According to the affidavit, Ybarra’s girlfriend told investigators she then saw Ybarra with a knife and later saw him standing over the woman.
The group got back into the truck and headed to the hospital. Ybarra’s girlfriend said the friend dropped her and another man off at the hospital before taking Ybarra and her son back to her apartment.
Police later obtained a warrant for Ybarra’s arrest on a murder charge.
