New court documents reveal what investigators say happened during a large fight at a Corpus Christi motel that left a woman dead and two other people injured.

Emilio Ybarra, 39, is charged with murder in connection with the Aug. 21 stabbing at the OYO Motel in the 5200 block of Interstate 37 Access Road.
According to an arrest affidavit, police were called to the motel around 10:42 p.m. and found a woman injured inside a room. She was taken to Spohn Shoreline Hospital, where she died. Investigators learned several men and women had been involved in a fight. One person suffered a cut to the leg and another was shot in the hand.
Witnesses also told police they saw a silver Chrysler 300 and a black Chevrolet pickup leave the motel after the fight.
Hours later, police were called to Spohn Shoreline after a man arrived with a gunshot wound to his hand. Investigators said he arrived in a black Chevrolet Silverado with another man and woman, connecting them to the earlier fight.
The woman told detectives Ybarra had picked her and her son up before they went to the motel to look for his girlfriend.
According to the affidavit, Ybarra’s girlfriend was arguing with the woman who was later stabbed. The witness said the argument became physical and several people began throwing objects at the victim and trying to hit her.
The witness told detectives she then saw Ybarra standing over the victim with a knife in his hand. She said she did not know where the knife came from or who it belonged to.
After the fight, the witness said the group got back into the truck. Ybarra later dropped her and her son off at the hospital before leaving, according to the affidavit.
Investigators used witness statements and other information gathered in the case to request a murder warrant for Ybarra.
Ybarra was later arrested on the murder charge.
