CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified 42-year-old Jess Boswell as the man who died after being taken into Corpus Christi police custody following a stabbing.

Police said Boswell allegedly stabbed his mother last Friday afternoon on Schwerin Lake Drive near Yorktown Boulevard.
When officers arrived, people in the area were holding Boswell. Police took him into custody and placed him in a patrol unit, where CCPD Assistant Chief David Blackmon said Boswell began experiencing medical distress.
Officers called for medical help, but Boswell died. Police said it was not immediately clear what caused his medical emergency.
Boswell’s mother was taken to an area hospital in stable condition. The medical examiner said Boswell’s cause and manner of death are pending. The investigation continues.
