A father in Midland was recently arrested after investigators connected him with the death of his 1-year-old daughter. The infant was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead from lack of oxygen. New disturbing details provide further insight on how the victim died.

He Was Too Drunk to Care for His baby

32-year-old Guillermo Juarez and the mother of their 1-year-old daughter were interviewed after the baby was pronounced dead. The mother stated that Juarez had been drinking for many hours the night before, and she told him to leave the 1-year-old sleeping on a recliner.

The mother then went to bed with their other child, a 2-month-old, at around 2 a.m. as Juarez stayed up drinking. Later in the morning, the mother woke up to Juarez sleeping in bed next to her, too drunk to wake up. She noticed that the 1-year-old was nowhere to be seen.

The Infant Was Gray and Unresponsive

After several attempts, Juarez was finally able to be woken up and pushed onto his side. Smothered underneath Juarez, face down, was the unresponsive infant.

The victim was not breathing, cold to the touch, had blue lips, and was gray in appearance.

Both parents attempted CPR on their daughter as paramedics arrived, but she was already deceased.

Investigators discovered that Juarez had drunk about 10 alcoholic beverages that night before taking the infant daughter into bed with him.

Arrested and Charged

Guillermo Juarez was arrested on one charge of manslaughter and another charge of violating a protective order. His total bond was set at $1,005,000.
