Houston’s 7th Annual Mariachi lands in town this weekend. Held at the Wortham Theater Center, the three-day festival will feature a vibrant celebration of mariachi music and ballet folklórico with a different Texas-based lineup each day.
What began in 2019 as a small community in the event in the East End has transformed into a multi-day annual celebration at the Wortham Theater Center, centered on mariachi, ballet folklórico, and youth arts education.
Each program features a distinct lineup, pairing mariachi ensembles with folklórico dance companies in a family-oriented celebration of Mexican cultural traditions.

This year’s Houston Mariachi Festival kicks off on Friday, August 28. Taking place in the Brown Theater at Wortham Theater Center, 501 Texas Ave. in Downtown Houston, Friday’s opening-night performance will include the University of Houston Mariachi Pumas, the High School All-Star Mariachi Group and Danzas Folklóricas de Solei.
On Saturday, the festival will feature Mariachi Imperial de América, Mariachi Las Chabelitas and Mexico en Danzas Grupo Folklórico – offering a lineup of professional and regional ensembles, with mariachi repertoire accompanied by colorful folklórico performances.
The festival will conclude on Sunday, August 30, with UT Rio Grande Valley Mariachi Aztlán, the UT Rio Grande Ballet Folklórico and winners of the National Youth Mariachi Vocal Competition.
Doors open one hour before each show. On Friday and Sunday, organizers encourage guests to wear guayaberas and traditional Mexican dresses, while Saturday is planned as a formal-attire evening.
Tickets are available through Performing Arts Houston. Prices vary based on performance but start around $65. On Sunday, the venue is offering deals for two or more tickets, priced from $39 when using the code “HTW26“. All performances take place at the Brown Theater at Wortham Theater Center at 501 Texas Ave.
