EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Police released the identities of the suspect arrested and the victim in Tuesday’s deadly stabbing in Northeast El Paso.

According to the El Paso Police Department, 35-year-old Shaloni Mariah Wallace, a resident of Northeast El Paso, was arrested after she allegedly stabbed and killed 36-year-old April Marie Flores, a resident of the Lower Valley.

The incident happened at the Patriot Palms apartment complex on 4980 Sean Haggerty at around 11 a.m.

EPPD said they believe Wallace began arguing with Flores, who was in an apartment working as a caregiver for an elderly woman, when she allegedly stabbed Flores.

EPPD said Flores tried to run away and look for help, but ultimately officers found her on the sidewalk in between apartment buildings.

Flores was rushed to the hospital, where she died from her injuries.

EPPD said Wallace was arrested after officers caught her in another apartment.

Jail records show Wallace was booked into the El Paso County downtown jail, where she was charged with murder.

Wallace’s bond has not been set yet.
