CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The giant Wildcat head that watched over Calallen football games for more than two decades could now be yours.
The original Wildcat head, installed in 2004, is up for auction through the Calallen Education Foundation.
Bidding in the online silent auction started at $500 and has already climbed past $1,000.

Calallen Education Foundation Executive Director Christin Garner said the auction will help connect the district’s history with its future.
“We work closely with the district, raising money for teachers and students, and they thought this was a different way for us to incorporate history with the future of where Calallen’s going,” Garner said. “And so we chose to auction it off, and we’re going to finalize that at our kickoff of our new facilities.”
The online auction is available through the Calallen Education Foundation’s website.
Bidding will remain open until 5 p.m. Sept. 2.
